  • THE VILLAGE OF OKEFORD FITZPAINE- Okeford Fitzpaine is one of Dorset's most attractive villages, exhibiting rural charm and a relaxed pace. The cottage is in a conservation area of the village because of its historical interest and beauty.  Only a very short walk away, you will find a friendly pub (The Royal Oak) and a village shop/post office (which is open weekdays from 7am to 7pm, Sat 7am to 5pm and Sun 7am to midday). The local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers superb walks. If you climb up Okeford Hill, just behind the church, you will be rewarded with magnificent views across the Blackmore Vale. The nearby Hambledon Hill is owned by the National Trust. It is a huge Iron Age hill fort with a history dating back even further to the Neolithic era. This and the wonderful Bulbarrow Hill, one of Dorset's highest points, are just a short drive from the cottage.

  • NEARBY TOWNS- The cottage is located in North Dorset, 6 miles NW of the market town of Blandford.  It is situated in the heart of the Blackmore Vale and has a wealth of charming Dorset villages to explore.  It is 9 miles S of Shaftesbury and 14 miles W of Sherborne.  Larger towns not too far away are Poole (20 miles), Bournemouth (25 miles) and Salisbury (30 miles).

  • BEACHES- Although inland, Netherway Farmhouse is equidistant from a range of beautiful beaches along the Dorset coastline. The wonderful sandy stretches of beaches in Sandbanks and Bournemouth are about 25 miles away as is the seaside town of Weymouth.  Swanage and Studland Bay are about 30 miles away.  It is well worth visiting the beautiful beaches and nature reserve in this area, passing by Corfe Castle on the way.  Also worth visiting are the impressive coastal features of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door (20 miles south of the cottage).  Travelling further along the Jurassic Coastline there is the spectacular Chesil Beach which stretches from the Isle of Portland to West Bay. Then further along the coastline you will find the seaside town of Lyme Regis.

  • TRAVEL LINKS- Bournemouth Airport (25 miles), Gillingham Station- direct link to London Waterloo (10 miles), Bus Service- to local villages and towns from outside the Village Shop.
